Needing to update!

So it's been a crazy couple of weeks around here, but I'm finally able to sit down and update this blog!

I am currently testing a couple of patterns on Ravelry. One is a scarf that is done in Tunisian crochet. The other is a crocheted shawl/wrap. It's coming along nicely and I think I will be able to use it as an entry in Nerd Wars. Here's how it looks so far:

I finished the pillow for Maddie:

I will be casting on 198 Yards of Heaven tomorrow (hopefully). This will be my first lace knitting. I'm doing this as a KAL with GardenLynn and MTCup from Ravelry. I am excited to start my first KAL. I really like that it's just a few of us working on it. This way I won't feel lost in a huge group and I think it will be easier to keep up the encouragement between each other.

I'm a WINNER!!!

Wowie! I won the giveaway for the Knit Picks DPNs that GardenLynn was giving away on her blog! How cool is that?!?!?!

I haven't been too productive with my knitting and crocheting this week. I am still trying to finish up my 7" garter squares for my WonWon blankie. I have also been working on a special project. My knitting group put together a lap sized blanket for a little girl who is going through a battle with cancer. We had 2 leftover squares and I decided to put them together as a pillow to go with the blanket. My poor square wasn't as square as I would have liked, and so I am trying to fix that while adding on a border. I am so excited to get this finished. I know that little Maddie will really enjoy this gift of love that we have made for her.

I have been waiting on starting anything new mainly because of Nerd Wars. I am so relieved that the competition begins tomorrow and I can finally get to work on some really great projects.

So I've come down with my first cold since I had my sinus surgery in September. The craziest part of it is that even though I am congested I can still breath just fine through my nose. Hopefully it won't last too long and I will get to feeling better soon :)

Nerd Wars!

I decided to try something new. I joined the Nerd Wars group on Ravelry and will be competing on Team Precious (Lord of the Rings)! This is going to be a really fun way to help me with my goal of completing more projects. I'm really looking forward to getting creative with the challenges that are presented. Let the geekiness begin!!!

Beaded Cuff Set giveaway

Sandrasingh.com is doing another giveaway! This time it's for a beaded cuff set by Laura Nelkin. I did a search on Ravelry to see all the patterns by this designer. She's got some really awesome ones out there. I love the simplicity and beauty of her designs. I really love the beaded cuff set. It's so cute and it would certainly help me learn how to knit with beads. Perfect for my New Year's Resolution!

Here's a link to Sandra's blog with instructions on how to enter the giveaway :)

Yay me!

Decided to run by the gym after I dropped M off for Scouts. Got a 30 minute walk on the treadmill in!

I've been quiet...

...but life has not! So far 3 of my children have been sick with a nasty little stomach bug. I've been praying that my husband and I don't catch it!

I have been house hunting and think I found the one! I am so excited to get this ball rolling!

As for knitting, I'm working on my 7" garter squares for the Ron Weasley blanket I'm making.

My current book is Jane Eyre. There is a book club with some ladies from church meeting on Friday evening. Hopefully I will finish in time!!

Baby + knitting needles = NOT SAFE

So I got out some knitting needles to work on some squares for a swap and Baby just swiped it from me. She is now stabbing the skein of yarn repeatedly and enjoying herself. Not so much fun when she stabs me through the yarn though...

Seriously?

No eggs or milk at the store. How nuts. Come on people, it's not like you're gonna be iced/snowed in for a month straight...

Holy Cow!

The county just called to let us know that school has been cancelled for tomorrow - that makes 4 days now!

Still haven't done any knitting. Guess I'll plan on that for tomorrow :)

Snow Days

So far they've cancelled school for 2 days now and tomorrow will make 3. It sure is pretty to see all the snow outside. I'm just glad I don't have to drive anywhere in it!

You would think that with all the time inside with nowhere to go that I would be getting some knitting or crocheting done. Nah - I've been too busy playing with this new blog! :)

New Year, New Blog

I've never been much of a blogger before, but here goes!

One of my New Year's Resolutions this year is to improve my knitting skills and to knit and crochet more for myself. :) I guess that I can add blogging to that list too!
